Freshmen Engineering Leadership Development Program
The Freshman Engineering Leadership Development program (FELD) at the University of Cincinnati focuses on three thematic areas: leadership development, community service, and college engagement. It is our belief that an active participation in all three areas will help incoming students to be successful.
Read the FELD Vision Statement
The Freshman Engineering Leadership Development (FELD) program is a committee within Engineering Tribunal that encourages freshmen to develop leadership qualities, become engaged within the college, and participate in community service. The group is entirely centered upon the freshmen class. A freshman executive board will make the decisions on the group’s activities and events with the help of a small number of upperclassmen advisors. FELD is designed to connect freshmen with upperclassmen, student groups, and others - both inside and outside of the college. It is a great way for freshmen to network with older students and to have their questions answered by experienced students who know the ins-and-outs of the college. Every major will have a designated upperclassman representative to help answer questions and give advice, and many more upperclassmen will be around to answer any questions that may come up about other groups and activities.
Last year (2008-2009) FELD held leadership talks, played laser tag and paintball, went skiing, and served a dinner at the Ronald McDonald House. It was a great year, but the most exciting thing was that all of these events were planned by freshmen. FELD is a great way for freshmen to attain some early leadership experience within the College of Engineering and have a great time doing it!
